Below are short answers to the questions we are asked most, each pointing to the full guide. Anything else: email **help@exacc.au**.","lastVerified":"2026-10-10","apps":["app"],"processIds":[],"steps":[],"sections":[{"heading":"Need more help?","body":["Email **help@exacc.au** with your business name and what you were doing; a screenshot helps. Onboarding is free. To look around first, try the demo at exacc.au/demo/ - no sign-up needed."]}],"faqs":[{"q":"What is Exacc and who is it for?","a":"Australian online accounting and payroll software, built for local compliance: bank feeds, invoicing, bills, BAS, Single Touch Payroll (STP), PayDay Super, TPAR and trust accounts. It is for small and medium businesses, bookkeepers, and tax and BAS agents, on the web and on iPhone and Android."},{"q":"How do I get started?","a":"Click **Sign Up** at the top of this page and create your account (email, mobile and an authenticator app for sign-in), then create a business file for your business. The Getting Started page (exacc.au/getting-started/) walks through the first steps: business details, linking to the ATO, users and payroll."},{"q":"What does it cost?","a":"**Freebie** is free: up to 3 invoices a month with basic invoicing and debtors. **Full Suite** is $44 a month per business file with all features ($22 a month for the first 6 months). The first 30 days are free with no credit card. Prices are in AUD and include GST. Your subscriber account itself is free."},{"q":"How do I add or change the card I am charged on?","a":"Open your subscriber account, go to the **Details** tab and click **Set up payment for charges**. To change or stop a plan, email help@exacc.au."},{"q":"Can I bring my data from other accounting software?","a":"There is no automatic converter from other software. Import your customers and suppliers from a CSV file, import bank transactions from CSV (or convert a PDF bank statement), connect bank feeds for up to 2 years of history, and enter opening balances as a general journal."},{"q":"How is my data protected?","a":"Exacc is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 for its software as a service. Every sign-in needs your password and a code from your authenticator app (or an SMS code), and each person only sees the business files and areas they have been given. Bank feeds use a consent you give your bank and never your banking password. Business files are hosted on AWS in Sydney and backed up daily."},{"q":"Who can see my business file?","a":"Only the people you invite. Invite them from **Manage › Users**; unless you make them an administrator, their roles decide what they can see and do. Tax and BAS agents see the files their subscriber account manages."},{"q":"How do bank feeds work?","a":"Open **Books › Bank Feeds**, click **Connect a Bank** and give consent on Basiq's page (Consumer Data Right). Link each account to your chart of accounts; Exacc brings in up to 2 years of history and then new transactions daily. Process them in **Process Feeds**, where bank rules can code them for you."},{"q":"How do I reconcile my bank account?","a":"Code every transaction in **Process Feeds**, then open **Books › + Bank Statement**, choose the account and dates, and compare the balance on the last day with your bank's balance."},{"q":"How do I create and send an invoice?","a":"Open **Business › Sales › Invoice**, choose the customer, add lines, then post and email it. Quotes, credit notes, recurring invoices and payment plans work from the same area."},{"q":"Can customers pay my invoices online?","a":"Yes, by card through Stripe. Connect your Stripe account in **Business Details › Online Payments** and every invoice email gets a **Pay now with Stripe** link; Exacc records the payment against the invoice."},{"q":"How do I chase overdue invoices?","a":"Send a statement: in **Business › Sales › Receivables** use **E-mail Statement** for one customer or **Send all Reminders** for everyone overdue. Payments are recorded on the invoice, and the receivables report shows who owes what."},{"q":"Can I lodge my BAS from Exacc?","a":"Yes. Link the business file to the ATO once, then open **Business › Tax Docs**: Exacc fetches the ATO prefill, fills GST and PAYG withholding from your accounts, and lodges it with the ATO directly. TPAR is lodged the same way."},{"q":"Does Exacc do Single Touch Payroll?","a":"Yes, STP Phase 2. Each pay event is reported to the ATO from Exacc, and the last pay event of the financial year can be sent as the final report so employees' income statements become tax ready."},{"q":"How does Exacc handle PayDay Super?","a":"Super is calculated with each pay event. Pay it from the pay event's **PayDay Super** tab or from **Payroll › Pay Super**, submitted to SuperChoice by direct debit or direct credit, or download a SAFF file."},{"q":"How do I add an employee?","a":"Set up payroll once (pay cycles, super and tax settings), then add the employee under **Payroll › Employees › New**. Invited employees can complete their own tax declaration, bank and super details through employee self-service."},{"q":"What reports are there?","a":"Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet (with period comparison), Trial Balance, General Ledger, Cash Flow, sales, receivables and payables, BAS and payroll reports. Reports open from **Reports**, can be filtered by date, site, contact or user, and exported to PDF or Excel. There is no custom report builder."},{"q":"Is there a mobile app?","a":"Yes, **Exacc Go** for iPhone and Android (links on exacc.au/go/). It covers everyday invoicing: invoices, quotes and credit notes, recording payments, and sending statements."},{"q":"What does Exacc connect to?","a":"Your bank through bank feeds (Basiq), card payments through Stripe, super payments through SuperChoice, and the ATO for BAS, STP and TPAR lodgement. Everything else comes in by CSV import."},{"q":"I forgot my password. What now?","a":"Click **Log in** at the top of this page, then **Forgot password?**, and follow the email. If you lost your authenticator app, use **Get 2FA code via SMS** at sign-in, or email help@exacc.au."}],"related":["https://exacc.au/help/create-exacc-account/","https://exacc.au/help/create-business-file/","https://exacc.au/help/link-exacc-to-ato/","https://exacc.au/help/set-up-bank-feeds/","https://exacc.au/help/reconcile-bank-account/","https://exacc.au/help/create-invoice/","https://exacc.au/help/take-card-payments-stripe/","https://exacc.au/help/send-customer-statements/","https://exacc.au/help/lodge-bas/","https://exacc.au/help/lodge-stp/","https://exacc.au/help/pay-super/","https://exacc.au/help/add-employee/","https://exacc.au/help/invite-user/","https://exacc.au/help/how-to-access-reports-dashboard/","https://exacc.au/help/mobile-app-invoicing/","https://exacc.au/help/import-contacts/"],"linkNote":"Links containing {dbId} open that screen in the business file whose id is dbId.
