How to Lodge STP Amendment

How to Lodge STP Amendment

The STP Amendment process allows you to correct any previously submitted Single Touch Payroll reports to the Australian Taxation Office. This is an important feature that ensures all payroll information reported to the ATO remains accurate and up-to-date, which is essential for employee tax records and compliance.

Unlike some payroll systems that only allow amendments to recent pay events, Exacc provides the flexibility to amend any pay event in your history, regardless of how far back it occurred. You can modify employee details, update pay amounts, adjust tax withholdings, correct superannuation contributions, and even add or remove employees from historical pay events.

This guide will walk you through the complete process of reopening a pay event, making necessary corrections, approving the changes, and submitting the amended STP report to the ATO.

Amendment Steps

Amendment Complete!

Your STP amendment has been successfully processed and submitted to the ATO. Employee records have been updated with the corrected information, and the pay event has been approved and included in your financial reports. The ATO will update their records accordingly, ensuring all payroll data remains accurate and compliant.

Amendments for Pay Events from Another Software

If you have transferred your Payroll to Exacc, and informed ATO of the change, any further updates for that financial year must be done in Exacc.

  • Using the old software will create duplicate records in ATO
  • You can follow the above instructions as if the pay event was originally created with Exacc
  • After updating, you may need to send amendment to STP, using Exacc

Important: Always use Exacc for amendments after transferring your payroll to avoid duplicate ATO records.
