Your user does not have a role that allows this. Exacc names the permission, for example Tax_Lodge, and lists who in the business file has it, who can grant it and which roles carry it. Ask a file administrator to add one of those roles to your user.

In Exacc: Manage › Users › Users

1. Read the message

The first line names the permission you are missing. Below it Exacc lists:

  • Who has this permission - people in this business file who can do it, so one of them can do the job for you.
  • Who can grant it to you - the file's administrators.
  • Roles that carry it - any one of these gives you the permission.

2. Ask an administrator

Send them the permission name and the role you need. Pick the role that fits your job, not the biggest one: see what each role allows.

3. Administrator: add the role

Open Manage › Users › Users, click the person, switch on the role on their Permissions tab and click Save All Changes. See User roles and what each one allows.

4. Try again

Repeat what you were doing. If it is still refused, refresh the page and check that the role was saved.

Other messages

These look similar but a role does not fix them:

  • You don't have permissions to access this contact (or user): you have the permission, but only for linked contacts, and this one is not linked to you. An administrator adds it under Linked Contacts on your Permissions tab.
  • You don't have license for function, or You don't have a license to run this module: the business file's subscription does not include this part of Exacc. See Manage your subscriber account.
  • Only Admins can change User Permissions: roles can be changed only by an administrator, whatever roles you hold.

If no one else is listed

Each business file has its own users, so look in the right file. If the owner has left and no administrator remains, contact Exacc support by live chat, [email protected] or the contact form.

Your AI app was refused

An AI app is limited by what you can do and by the limits set for AI apps in the file. See Rules for AI apps.

Which roles carry each permission

Find the name from your message. Names ending in _View let you see something, _Draft or _SaveDraft let you prepare it, and _Manage or _FinaliseReopenVoid let you change or complete it. Administrators have all of them.
