CommBank calls the person who shares a business's data a data sharing delegate, and the business must choose at least one first. On NetBank: Settings › Manage data sharing › Setting up data sharing delegates. On CommBiz: Admin › Maintenance requests › Add data sharing delegate, then sign the form. Anyone else is appointed with the paper form. The delegate then connects CommBank in Exacc as in Connect your bank (bank feeds).
Before you start
- Know whether the business banks on NetBank or CommBiz: the steps differ.
- The delegate is 18 or older. On NetBank they are registered for NetBank; on CommBiz they are verified by CommBank's ID check and have access to the CommBiz service. Once appointed, a delegate shares "without further approval".
- The person who connects in Exacc must be the one the bank lets share the data. They need their own Exacc login with access to the business file and an Australian mobile number in their Exacc profile (in the form +614…).
1. Business on NetBank: add a delegate online
Log on to NetBank and go to Settings › Manage data sharing › Setting up data sharing delegates. Choose the business profile to assign a delegate to, tap Add delegate and choose a director or business authority (chairperson, trustee, secretary, proprietor).
To appoint anyone else, such as an employee or your accountant, use the paper form (step 3). To remove a delegate: Business data sharing delegates › Remove.
2. Business on CommBiz: request a delegate and sign the form
Log on to CommBiz and go to Admin › Maintenance requests › Add data sharing delegate. Choose the business, then the delegate (up to 5 per business). Download, print and sign each pre-filled form and send it by email or post; on CommBiz this is not purely online.
To remove a delegate: Admin › Maintenance requests › Manage data sharing delegates › Remove.
3. Anyone else: the paper form
CommBank's Add or remove data sharing delegate form (007-112) adds or removes up to 5 delegates; each must be 18 or older with NetBank or CommBiz access for the entity. Email it to [email protected]. CommBank states no processing time. The delegate can then share all of the entity's accounts.
- Company or company trustee - 2 directors, or a director and secretary, or the sole director sign.
- Association - The chairperson or chief officer signs.
- Partnership - The managing partner, a corporate partner, or 2 partners sign (all partners for an informal partnership).
- Trust - The individual trustee(s) sign, or as for a company if the trustee is a company.
4. Then connect in Exacc
Follow Connect your bank (bank feeds): in the business file open Books › Bank Feeds, click Connect a Bank (Connect New Account once the file has connected accounts), search for CBA (Basiq lists it as "Commonwealth Bank Australia") and click Approve on Basiq's page.
On NetBank: enter your registered mobile number (you may be asked for the last 4 digits of your NetBank ID), enter the one-time password from CommBank app notifications or the NetBank inbox, choose the accounts, review and confirm.
On CommBiz: enter your CommBiz User ID, enter the one-time password from your CommBiz inbox notifications, choose the profile (the entity), then the accounts, review and confirm.
CommBiz limitation
CommBank's page says (28/10/2026): "Individuals, sole traders and trading entities using CommBiz currently can't share CDR data". A fix is in progress, and NetBank may serve as an interim option. Some mixed-ownership joint accounts cannot be shared.
Sole traders on NetBank
No delegate is needed to share your own accounts. To let someone else share, use Settings › Manage data sharing › Setting up data sharing delegates (the delegate must be an additional cardholder or have online access).
See or stop sharing at CommBank
NetBank or the CommBank app: Settings › Manage data sharing › Open Banking data sharing. CommBiz: Functions › Manage data sharing › View & manage data sharing.
