NAB shares business data only through NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app: NAB Connect users must register for Internet Banking first. The account owners nominate an authorised user on NAB's Internet Banking & Telephone Banking Authorised User Access Form; that person then connects NAB in Exacc as in Connect your bank (bank feeds) with their NAB ID. A sole trader, or the sole officer of a company using their own NAB ID, needs no form.

In Exacc: Books › Banking › Bank Feeds

Before you start

  • The person who will share uses NAB Internet Banking. NAB: "Customers currently using NAB Connect will need to register for Internet Banking to access CDR data sharing services." NAB Connect itself cannot be used to give consent.
  • The person who connects in Exacc must be the one the bank lets share the data. They need their own Exacc login with access to the business file and an Australian mobile number in their Exacc profile (in the form +614…).

1. Nominate the authorised user on NAB's form

Complete the Internet Banking & Telephone Banking Authorised User Access Form (A148547-0925; NAB's older "Authorised User Nomination form" link now serves this form). Give the authorised user's NAB ID, then the accounts and the access type for each:

View Only: for business accounts NAB says this "includes the ability to create or manage Consumer Data Right (CDR) data sharing permissions". Third Party NAB ID Link gives transacting access and is only for someone who already has authority to transact.

NAB describes this as "a temporary way to manage authorisations for open banking"; a specific open-banking authority is planned.

2. Sign and return the form

The account owners sign "in a manner which is binding on that company / organisation (e.g. two directors of a company)"; for joint accounts, all owners sign. The form says only "complete, sign and return". For help, ask your business banker or call NAB on 13 10 12. NAB states no processing time.

3. Then connect in Exacc

Follow Connect your bank (bank feeds): in the business file open Books › Bank Feeds, click Connect a Bank (Connect New Account once the file has connected accounts), search for NAB (Basiq lists it as "National Australia Bank Limited") and click Approve on Basiq's page.

At NAB, enter your NAB ID and the one-time password sent to your registered mobile, then choose the accounts.

Only the person who shared sees the consent

NAB: "An authorised user can only see and manage consents created by them". The business cannot see those consents in its own Internet Banking. When an authorised user leaves, the business must ask NAB to withdraw the nomination.

See or stop sharing at NAB

Internet Banking: Profile & Settings › Data sharing permissions, select the provider, Stop Sharing, then confirm. NAB app: Settings › Permissions › Data sharing permissions.

Other banks
