Open Books › Bank Feeds and click Connect a Bank, choose your bank and give consent on Basiq's page. Once the accounts arrive, use Link to Chart of Accounts on each one. Exacc brings in up to 2 years of history, then new transactions daily.
Before you start
- An Australian mobile number in your Exacc profile (in the form +614…): Basiq sends it a code.
- Your internet banking login. Banks that ask for a one-time code at each login cannot be connected yet.
1. Start the connection
Open Books › Bank Feeds (Bank Feeds - connected accounts) and click Connect a Bank (Connect New Account once you have some). Search for your bank and select it; banks under maintenance show Currently unavailable.
2. Give consent at Basiq
Exacc takes you to Basiq, the open-banking service it uses. Log in to your bank there, choose the accounts to share and agree. Basiq then returns you to Exacc ("Bank connection updated").
The accounts arrive within about 10 minutes, and Exacc emails you when they are ready.
3. Link each account to your chart of accounts
In the row's menu choose Link to Chart of Accounts. Pick an existing Bank account (postable), or Add new Account: a bank account goes under Current Assets, a credit card, loan or overdraft under Current Liabilities. Only linked accounts appear in Process feeds.
4. Let the transactions come in
The first time, Exacc brings in up to 2 years of transactions to yesterday; after that, the last few days, once a day. Code them in Process feeds (see Code your bank transactions).
Managing connections
Books › Bank Feeds lists the accounts connected to this business file, with the last update and who linked them. Deactivate stops a feed and Connect turns it back on; only the person who made the connection can do this. Your own accounts across all files are under Bank Feeds - your accounts.
Consent lasts a year. When it runs out, connect the bank again.
