In Westpac Online Banking (Business Network profile) an Administrator does two things: Administration › Features and approvals › Enable data sharing, then Administration › User administration › Manage data sharing for each person who will share. That person, registered for Westpac Protect SMS, then connects Westpac in Exacc as in Connect your bank (bank feeds).
Before you start
- The business uses Westpac Online Banking with a Business Network profile; Westpac's set-up steps are on desktop.
- The Nominated Representative is identified by Westpac, has an active business network profile and is registered for Online Banking and Westpac Protect SMS. A SecurID token code cannot be used for data sharing.
- The person who connects in Exacc must be the one the bank lets share the data. They need their own Exacc login with access to the business file and an Australian mobile number in their Exacc profile (in the form +614…).
1. Enable data sharing for the organisation (Administrator)
An Administrator signs in to Westpac Online Banking, opens the Business Network profile and selects Administration › Features and approvals. Under Open Banking data sharing, tick Enable data sharing and select Save.
If the feature is not offered, or was turned off, the organisation completes Westpac's paper Open Banking data sharing Authority (form WBCOBDS 1123), signed by its Executive Officers / Office Holders (Director, Company Secretary, Trustee, Partner). It is lodged through a branch or your Relationship Manager, who verifies it and sends it on; Westpac asks customers not to email it themselves. Westpac states no processing time.
2. Appoint each Nominated Representative (Administrator)
Select Administration › User administration and select the user's name. Under Open Banking data sharing, tick Manage data sharing, check under Security devices that the user is registered for Protect SMS, and select Save. Repeat for each representative; an Administrator can appoint themselves. Westpac only shares once the organisation has at least one active Nominated Representative.
3. Then connect in Exacc
Follow Connect your bank (bank feeds): in the business file open Books › Bank Feeds, click Connect a Bank (Connect New Account once the file has connected accounts), search for Westpac (Basiq lists it as "Westpac Banking Corporation") and click Approve on Basiq's page.
At Westpac, the profile selection lets you choose the business network. Authorise with your Westpac Customer Number and the SMS one-time password from Protect SMS; your online banking password is not used.
Sole traders
Westpac groups sole traders with individuals: accounts owned by you and not in a Business Network are shared directly, with no Nominated Representative.
See or stop sharing at Westpac
Any Nominated Representative can use the data sharing dashboard in Online Banking. All representatives see the same dashboard and can revoke any consent. Removing a representative's permission leaves the consents they created running until they expire or another representative revokes them.
The paper Authority marked Revoke switches data sharing off for the whole organisation and revokes all of its consents.
